Pleading for the U.S. (Psalm 38)

O God of all Creation, Don't rebuke us in Your anger, or discipline us when You are enraged at us. ...for Your arrows go deep and Your hand presses down to crush.

Your indignation leaves no part of us intact;
Our sin has made the entire country sick;
for our iniquities loom high over the land
as a heavy burden. It is too heavy for us.

The entire nation is a stinking, festering wound
because of our foolishness.
We are completely bent over, prostrate before You
Many, even in their sleep, go about mourning all day long.

The heart of this nation burns with fever,
and the whole country is sick.
We are numb, completely crushed,
and our anguished heart makes us groan from within.

While many roam about to create more sin,
...daily striving to throw Your goodness to us, in Your face,
Many of us long for You;
Our sighing is not hidden from You.
Our heart throbs, our strength is gone,
and the light in our eyes has left.

The friends and allies see our disease and laugh,
even our closest allies keep us at a distance.
The nations of the world seek to harm us,
They speak of disaster,
and spend the day thinking ways to consider deception.

We are like deaf men —we don't hear it;
and, like a mute, we are speechless before them.
We stand stupidly and there is no defense in our speech.

In You is our hope.
You will answer us, O Lord, our God.
I said, "Don't let them gloat over us
or boast against us when our foot repeatedly slips
in the mire of our sin.

Our enemies are alive and well,
Those who wrongfully hate us increase daily;
and since, they repay good with evil,
they oppose us because we have pursued good ...
... in our past.

Don't abandon us, O God!
O One true God, don't be far from us!
Come quickly to help us,
Lord of Hosts, You are our only salvation!

Father, Your Word:

Mark 3:25
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

Heavenly Father,
I love this nation: The United States of America. The USA, where You have placed me. I am grateful beyond words that I live here and have the freedoms that have blessed this nation. So many people have poured out their very life for the freedoms that I enjoy each day.

I give You thanks. Yet my heart is heavy over the division that has captured the minds and hearts of this nation. It seems that one cause or another has brought disunity everywhere I look. People seem to be consumed with their flavor of disruption. Many seem to seek division in every conversation. It seems to have become our identity. Forgive us.

Father, the division is alarming. It is literally disarming and we are totally vulnerable.

Our nation is fractured.

• Sanctity of Life:
  • Abortion
  • Discarding unused embryos
  • Assisted suicide
  • Eugenics
• Race
• Marriage
• Religion
• Politics

It extends past the foundational precepts to the "Haves and the have nots," the "employed and unemployed," and You know what else we have proclaimed worthy of our division. I proclaim that Your Word is true (John 14:6), Your Word will not fail (Deuteronomy 31:8), and Your Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

Sanctity of Life:
You are the Giver of Life. (Genesis 2:7) Open the eyes of our hearts to understand that life is a gift and not ours to take. Unless You show us this way, it is not possible that we can find it on our own.

Forgive us for being so consumed on our own self-interests that we cannot look wider than our immediate desires. Please, God of Mercy, do not leave us in this condition.

Racial Division:
Father, raise up voices of unity between the races. This is not a new struggle, but it is more complex with more factions involved: Hispanic, Black, White, Asian, Latinos, and others. We need Your help. Yes, raise up hearts that reach across the divide of race and extend a smile of welcome, a hand of true acceptance.

Bind us together as one to fight for common causes of worth: to help the hungry and the homeless...to reach out to those without hope and by Your Spirit - lift them up.

Marriage:
Surely, Lord God, we are making up our own rules to accommodate our desires. The redefinition of marriage is a place of deep grief. Your Word is so clear and the ramifications of this choice are also clear. Yet, we have taken this path. Call us to repent, to confess, and to plead for mercy. We look to the statistics to justify our choices, and when they do not, we cover them up.

Yet, there are those who adhere to Your Word. Give us a heart to reach those who are pushing the agenda of redefining marriage and further defiling our nation.

Religion:
Father, this has become so complex. We have Muslim against Christian, Muslims against Muslims, and Christians against Christians. Is it no wonder that so many people have become disappointed and left the entire of concept of Your being?

Within Your true Church - those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I ask for unity... unity and desire to love each other. Your Word tells us that "they" will know we are Christians by our love. Give us a heart to love each other. Unify Your church within the individual churches.

Redirect our minds and hearts to organize in prayer and outreach to demonstrate Your Gospel, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. May these demonstrations be a part of every day as we seek You, speak our faith, and respond to help those in need. Give us eyes to see the need of others, and motivate us as to how we can meet those needs. May we put down our differences and unify to proclaim the Good News.

Politics:
What a befuddlement. How can we pray effectively for our government and leaders. You command us to do so, but putting it into practice has become a challenge.

Father, I ask for wisdom for our leaders—national, state, and civic. Wisdom to seek out their own hearts and put aside their anger and frustration and find Your grace. Please place a desire for unity across the lines of division. I include our Senate and House: both nationally and at the state level. Grant them insights to see pathways that will bring people together and unify them across political lines.

Please give them ideas on how to show the love of Christ to each other, remembering that perfect love casts out fear. Bring Your perfect love into their daily situations. Grant these leaders self-control. Fill their hearts with new words, new responses. Please bring unity to our political venues.

Proverbs 15: 1
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Help us. Bring unity to Your people. That we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

Please pray with me.

Heavenly Father,
I love this nation: The United States of America. The USA, where You have placed me. I am grateful beyond words that I live here and have the freedoms that have blessed this nation. So many people have poured out their very life for the freedoms that I enjoy each day.

You have blessed this nation far more than any other nation on the earth. You have given us a quality of life that exceeds all other nations. I give You thanks.

Yet, we have turned from You. We have enjoyed he bounty of Your gracious favor. You have piled up mountains of blessings upon this nation. You have provided for our physical needs, including healthcare and the technologies that put our nation above every nation.

You have provided a quality of food that is better than all the nations of the earth. You have provided for our intellectual growth and given us education that is the desire of the world. Because of the protection of Your hand, we have enjoyed freedom of speech and the freedom to worship. We worship You openly and without threat of arrest and torment.

Your unceasing blessings have poured out upon this nation for centuries. Thank You.

Yet, in our opulence, stuffing ourselves with the blessings from Your hand and heart, we have turned from You. We have credited ourselves as the author of these blessings. We have forgotten You. We have turned from You. We, Your church, have stood by silently, as the very freedoms You have given us, are, one-by-one, being taken away.

We have watched as the spirit of anti-christ has grown strong. Have mercy and forgive us. Waken Your church to vehemently stand and resist the forces that threaten this nation. Fill Your Church with Your love and compassion. Grant us words that strengthen each other and dissipate the wrath that has grown to openly deny You.

Father, this nation now embraces death through abortion. We call good evil and evil good as Christians are attacked for standing for Your Word. Freedom of speech for Christians is no more. And we are silent.

Cleanse us and raise us up in strength! May we throw off the fear and stand boldly before Your throne of grace to intercede for those who embrace the convenience of abortion and believe they have the right to take the life of an unborn child. Father, I am ashamed that this has gone so far. O God...YOU are our hope...for the battle is not against flesh and blood.

Father, we have been silent as marriage has been redefined. Even in Your church, we are embracing what You specifically abhor. Call us to prayer. As this nation uses the freewill You gave us, to embrace our fleshly desires...have mercy, O God.

Raise up Your church to pray fervently on behalf of those who have been caught in the lair of the enemy. Let us stand in the gap for this nation, that Your patience not run dry. Fill us with Your Word, and a hunger and thirst to petition You on behalf of those who are used by the enemy to establish evil as good. O God...YOU are our hope...for the battle is not against flesh and blood.

Draw Your church to be ashamed of our laxness in these matters. Raise up Your Spirit to speak to our spirit that we may cry our before You, ashamed that we have not diligently prayed for this nation as laws have been changed, as You have been pushed out of the way. You are our only hope...for the battle is not against flesh and blood.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:11
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Draw us to confess. Bring Your church to confession. Heap upon our minds and hearts, that we have been grievous in our responsibilities. Remind us that we are the ones that can bring change because this is not a battle against flesh and blood. Bring us to confess and repent.

Open our eyes to see the shame that has saturated our culture. Raise up Your Word that we may have hope. Strengthen us, and equip us to be the Light of Jesus Christ in every part of our daily walk. And may our testimony be so inviting that all who would be saved, would come to Salvation.

Help us. Raise us up. That we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You that I live in the United States of America. I thank You for the freedoms that have been so hard won.

Yet, with these freedoms, especially the freedom of speech, we have become a nation of complainers. We have become critical of everything that doesn't fit our narrow view and desires of the moment.

Criticism, especially of the nation and our leaders, has become a way of life. I have done this. Please forgive me. Please forgive us and call us to repent.

Your Word:

Ezekiel 36:3,15
Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:

15 Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord God.

When Israel became a nation of negative critcizers, desolation followed. But when they ceased their negative chatter, you caused restoration. Father, we need Your help today, in the USA to join together and put away unkind, unhelpful chatter. Please help me to do this.

Especially since the election of President Trump, this nation has released a torrent of daily, persistent, and judgemental disapproval. It has been directed at President Trump and Republicans or those who oppose him and the Republican party.

We do this as if we are making the world a better place by spewing out this deluge of reactive waste. Please help us. Please open our eyes to see that we are being critical of Your chosen, for Your Word says:

Daniel 2:21
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Father, it seems like it is a fight between nationalism and globalism. Yet, nationalism is YOUR idea. We are opposing YOU and we are also disobedient to Your Word which says,

1 Timothy 2:1-3
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

This is to our shame. Open our eyes to see this egregious behavior. Call us to confess and repent.

Surely, all this negative talk releases spiritual forces into and onto our nation. We aren't thinking about the result of our actions. We are bringing harm to the USA by our persistent negativity. Please call us to repent.

Father, how much of this is being done by Your church? We seem to be especially good at criticism. We seem to slide into the robe of "I'm holy and righteous because I am critical." We confuse criticism with discernment.

Please call us to repent:

• Our negative talk brings a heavy burden on leaders and law enforcement.
• Our cynical negative attitudes creates an atmosphere of pessimism which is affecting our economy.
• We have created an atmosphere of bitterness, rivalry and hatred that has descended upon this nation.

So much needs to be changed here in the United States. But negativity will not change any of them. Open our hearts to understand Your Word. Call Your church to counter this road to destruction and become part of the solution.

Help us turn from negativity and arrogance and learn that speaking well is to be realistic with regard to our safety, our economy and well being. Call Your church to be salt. Call this nation again to be light.

Call us all to Christ, that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

***Hope for a nation bereft of truth...the prayers of one sinner

Psalms 145:18
The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,

You are the only source of real Truth. You are Truth and only by You can we know truth and justice. Do we want to know what is true and do we want justice? Or do we want the truth of our making? We concoct our own truth and call ourselves righteous. Forgive us.

You say You are near those who call upon You and that call upon You in truth. Raise up Your church to call upon You. Raise us up to cry unto You and to pour out Your Truth. Jesus, YOU are the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6). Yet, we desire our own version of truth. Forgive us and call us to You.

Such GOOD NEWS...truth is available to us! We don't have to devise our own plan for truth...because You have given us the real thing. Work in our hearts to truly desire real truth! Light a flame within us that we seek it. May our souls, dry as the desert sand, rise up and seek the living water that only You can provide. May we splash, drink long and deep, and be saturated with Your living water!

Do we want truth?

Father, this seems to be a bigger problem. Forgive us for preferring our own self-devised truth that serves our own agendas.

• The media abuses the influence they have. They lie repeatedly and covertly retract their lies —when no one is looking. They seek to influence the agendas of others without care for truth. They see their value in the number of readers rather than the quality and care of their products. Convict them. Call them to confess and repent.


• Mueller's Grand Jury. Father, there is so much garbage here. Where is truth? Because of the media, we don't even know what to believe or think. Do we want to know truth? ...or do we want to invent it? The people involved with this endeavor cannot consider finding real truth unless You guide them.
  
  The depth of garbage is so deep that we cannot tell if what is reported has ANY credibility. Yet so many of us believe we are able to discern the truth from the media reports. I ask Your interference.
  
  I ask You to elevate truth in this disruption and to bring truth to the surface, that it may be dismissed. Please raise up Your church to fervently pray for truth to be reported and known. Prepare us to face truth. Destroy every effort to promote lies and misleading quips
  
  
• Racial tension and animosity. You matter. You give us significance. Your love and care is for all people. We have lost sight of this truth. You love each person so much that You died for their sins. Did You leave some out? NO! It cannot be! It is our desire not to believe Your love that separates us. Father, we have lost sight of what You have saved us from —eternal separation from You. We choose to believe our own version of truth and have separated ourselves from Your Living Word —which is Truth. Help us Lord. Help us to return to Truth.
  
  Raise up the church to testify and LIVE out Your love for all people. May Your testimony go out through the actions of a loving church, focused on promoting real Truth.
  
  
• The definition of marriage has changed. Father, I am so embarrassed that I did not pray more, speak more, and testify that Your definition is true and worthy to be honored. I confess and repent. You defined marriage. Your definition is the standard upon which we will be judged. Call us to repent. Call Your church to clearly demonstrate Your design for marriage in a way that invites others to see this Truth.
  
  
• Your church. Father, we are surrounded and saturated with lies from every direction. Saturate us with Your living Word and grant us discernment and wisdom to know Truth. Grant us courage to speak Truth. Grant us a determined spirit to seek You and worship You in spirit and in Truth. We cannot do this of our own volition. Touch us. Waken us. Invigorate us to pray and to come together to bring Truth back to the United States.

Father, we are surrounded at every level and in every dimension with deception through fabricated media publications. We are all to blame as we have not honored truth in our homes and raised up a nation that embraces Truth. Please have mercy and call us to confess and repent of our desire to serve our own wicked agendas.

Do we even want truth? Your Word tells us:

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:

Truth has eluded our nation and Your church is at fault. We are to blame that this nation has turned from You because You have revealed Truth to us and opened the doors to seek Your standards. You have made it known that the battle is not against flesh and blood and we, Your church, have access to the spiritual realm where the battle for Truth is being fought. Guide us to enter into this realm and beseech You fervently. Then may this nation turn from its wickedness and find freedom based on truth.

Help us Lord. Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

1 Peter 3:8-11
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,

This nation is divided in so many ways —from families to our national government. This is not Your will. Surely, we have lost sight of Your will and daily seek our own. Open our eyes, let us all be dismayed at our choices and seek You. May we confess our sin and repent of our ways that You can forgive us and heal our land.

For Family leadership:
Father, our families have fallen apart. The very definition of the family has been transformed from Your plan to that which openly defies the natural perfection of Your order. I repent from turning away. I repent of thinking that I can not participate or have voice...for You have opened the throne of heaven to have voice before You. You are the One that can change this nation. I ask it.

Uphold the definition of family. Raise up families that honor You and may their light shine brightly amidst the confusion and silently shout, "Here is the way! Walk ye in it!" May the family leadership be preserved and may it be a guiding light in every community. May every family leader be humble and seek Your will. Father, I ask a special blessing for those families that hold true to Your design and seek You.

I ask You to raise up this this grass-roots movement of leadership. May Your light in each household bring light to this nation once again.

For Business leaders:
You have blessed this nation and its economy when we honored Your clear direction on how to honorably conduct business. Thank You. As we have turned from Your ways to our own, You have extended Your grace and You have beckoned us to turn back to You. Yet we refuse to do so and we conduct our businesses as a means to exploit others, crushing employees and without thought to seek Your wisdom. We even persecute those businesses who hold firm to Your principles. Many businesses are pressured, even by our government, to turn from Your ways. And we deny that true success comes from You.

I confess that I have not done my part. I have not prayed for the business leaders in my community. I repent of thinking I can do nothing, when You open the gates to the Throne of Grace to me! You have promised to hear my words...I pray for these leaders, that they may see that all they have is Yours and they are stewards. Press them, encourage their spirits to seek You and turn to Your ways.

For Political leaders:
Father, we have not raised up leaders in this nation to be true servants of the people. From our families and daily living, we have not demonstrated that You are the Source of our blessing. Forgive us and illuminate our sin that we may see it, confess it, and repent.

What has been demonstrated in the home, the community and in daily living has so decayed, that now our national leaders are also self-serving, forgetting that they serve because YOU have appointed them. I have not prayed diligently for the leaders of this nation. I confess and repent. You have commanded that we pray for our leaders. Thank You.

I ask that You open their eyes to realize that true power comes from humility. Dismiss all arrogance from their hearts and minds. Touch them that they can listen with integrity and truly seek Your will and live by Your principles. Raise up leaders who know Your Word and resolve to live by it...that they may be a testimony that You are the One True and Living God.

Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

*** we rebel against our past success to pursue our own desires ...have mercy, God of mercy.

Deuteronomy 28: 1-2
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,
You are the God of mercy, who knows our weaknesses.

Psalm 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Thank You.

We are weak and shortsighted. We easily forget that when we were prosperous, we acknowledged Your sovereignty. We forget that You were the author of our nation, and when we set forth our agendas in accordance with Your Word, the United States prospered.
Forgive us and call us back.

Father, we have truly gone astray to follow our own desires. We have established our own judgement as our best path forward. I have watched as this happened...as we took specific actions to separate ourselves from You. We took prayer out of the schools. Father, forgive me, that I did not pray and cry out to You.

How many other times did I not pray? Abortion? The removal of the Ten Commandments? Changes in the identity of marriage? Father, our nation has determined that we are able set the standard of right and wrong and no longer need Your participation. Forgive me as I watched and did not pray fervently.

Forgive us and call us back. Touch our hearts and minds, that we may turn from our ways and establish You as our true foundation again.

You have charged the church:

1 Timothy 1:1-4
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Father, bring the church back to prayer that we may pray for our leaders once again. Truly, if we don't have the government we want, it is because we, Your church, has not supplicated, prayed, intercessed or given thanks for our leaders...for those in authority. Open our minds to this truth, and bring us to pray for our leaders.

Forgive me where I have fallen short. You ask me to "first" pray for those in authority. Yet, I pray first for myself. Help me to change. Raise up others for this purpose. Press us, Your church, to come humbly before Your throne of grace for our nation's leaders at every level... right down to the towns in which we live...for You are our hope.

You have charged us to do this.
Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

For Pastors, especially in the U.S.

What we must do to change the U.S.

*** How Washington became what it is today...and it should be no surprise to us. Here is what we must do.

Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,

It should be no surprise to us that Washington, the seat of our government, has become what it is today. Although this nation was founded on the principles of Your Word, we have turned. Although You have prospered us in every way, we have enjoyed Your prosperity, while crediting ourselves, and turning away from Your ways. We have grown fat and lethargic in every area of our lives.

We have not protected the pathway that brought us prosperity. We have fallen away.

We have given up humility and thanksgiving and replaced them with pride. The love of many has grown cold. We have become weak and forsaken our right to worship You. We have not loved our children enough to teach them Your Word, Your wisdom, Your justice, Your righteousness. We have put government as the center of our deliverance and we have not fervently prayed for Your protection on those who govern. Forgive us.

Surely, as we have gone about our days and our interests, and as we have forsaken Your ways, and as we have not worked diligently to preserve our relationship as One Nation Under God, it should come as no surprise to us that our nation has come to this place:

– We redefined success to be what we buy...and became a consumer nation
– We allowed our national debt to exponentially skyrocket
– We allowed prayer to be taken out of our schools
– We chose divorce rather than honoring our covenants
– We allowed marriage to be redefined
– We chose abortion rather than be inconvenienced
...and so many more.

Surely, we have forsaken Your ways. We have not prayed for our leaders; in our government, our churches, and our communities. We have created the government that now brings such folly. We have forsaken You. We are the cause of our current situation.

Call us to repent. Call us to change and may we respond with humility and thanksgiving. Let us rise up and take ownership and call upon You to heal our land.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Father, I confess that I have enjoyed the privileges that have come to me because I am an American. Thank You that I grew up in this nation. I confess that I grew up with prayer in the schools, but I did nothing when it was removed. Forgive me. Help me to repent.

I confess that I have watched the moral decay of this nation and stood back, justifying my lethargy with the words, "God told us the world would turn from Him." You command me to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, yet, I justify not doing so, thinking there can be no peace. Forgive me. Help me to repent.

The abortion rate continues and these people are Your inheritance. I have done nothing to help. At times, I have disdained the abortion industry, but I have not prayed for those caught in its lair. Forgive me. Help me to repent.

Divorce has become so commonplace that young people have no interest in marriage. I know of couples who are challenged in their marriage, but I have not prayed, or offered support. I have come to accept divorce as commonplace. Even though I know that You can change and heal relationships, I have not called upon You. Forgive me. Help me to repent.

Father, I know that debt is not the way of Your scripture. I allowed personal debt to get out of hand. Surely, it is no wonder that our national debt is now out of hand. I am part of the cause of it. Forgive me. Help me to repent.

This nation can not change on its own. Only through You can there be healing in this land. I can not change on my own. Only through You can I be healed. Teach me to repent. Teach the U.S. to repent. I appeal to You.

Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

For Churches in America to become Light-houses for Christ

***That churches in America would fulfill their purpose as light-houses for Christ.

Mark 9:50
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You that we are Your church and that You have paid for us to belong to You. Thank You. You have trusted us to be Your voice, to be Your presence here in the Unites States and abroad. You have blessed us with every conceivable blessing: protection, wealth, freedom and so much more. Thank You.

Father, we have abused Your gifts, carrying our freedom to serve our whims and imaginations. We have taken Your wealth (for it all belongs to You), and we have made it our own. We have become consumers, chasing after every desire. We have become gluttons with insatiable appetites, while many around us are hungry, thirsty, without shelter or clothes, without hope. Forgive us for not abiding by Your Word, and for not using what You have given us to help those in need, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Many churches in the U.S. are changing. The government sees us as a threat rather than an asset. People who go their own way see churches as a hindrance to reaching their desires to indulge themselves sexually, morally, ethically, in our business transactions, and in our daily lives. Churches are being squeezed to conform. Businesses are being threatened to do adapt. As people we are pressed to affirm behavior that is abhorrent to You.

We need Your help. Our Churches are losing the Light of Christ. We are losing the our nerve and strength to preach Christ crucified for our sin. As a nation, and in our churches, we have lost touch with sin as You define it. We have become complacent and comfortable with our sin. We have become comfortable with separation from You. Forgive us and have mercy.

Grant us a new hunger and thirst for You, for Your Word, for righteousness. Awaken our hearts anew to seek Your presence. Build up churches with new conviction. Give us an insatiable appetite for renewed relationship with You and a desire to seek Your favor. Establish churches again, as the foundation in their communities as lighthouses. Set them up again, as beacons of the community and a place where people gather, worship and give thanks.

Father, raise up prayer warriors within each church to pray for their pastors and leadership. Raise up those who would teach the Gospel as teachers. Raise up armies of outreach—lighthouses into the communities through programs that minister to the needs. Help churches to win hearts and minds around them. Make each church so essential that people's hearts are turned and they return to You.

Establish local missionary outreaches. The needs are so great: we have people on our streets who are homeless, hungry and thirsty, and no means to change their situation. Help Lord! Help churches to see the need and bring what will help as a demonstration of the Gospel of Christ. Help each person to give sacrificially.

May these light-houses be established and may they join together to demonstrate Christ's sacrifice. Open hearts both within and without the Church and bring a return to our mission. Grant pastors a heart to search You and within themselves to identify and receive Your identity within each church and to bring that vision to their (Your) churches.

We need You. Help us to diligently and urgently search You on behalf of our nation through our churches.
