That those in the media would resist manipulation, pressure, and the fear of man. No. 2

*** That those in the media wold resist manipulation, pressure, and the fear of man.
Proverbs 29:23-25
23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. 24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. 25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father,

You are the ultimate communicator. You know the very hairs on our heads as well as our thoughts, our failings and our successes. You communicate with us through so many venues: Your Word, Your creation, people that are around us, and through the toil of our daily lives. Thank You.

Now we live in a time when technology has developed to give us means to communicate quickly with each other. Many people have developed their careers and even their lives around our ability to communicate through various means. We are pelted by their messages at every turn. As a nation, our freedom of speech has been abused because we have chosen not to proceed with wisdom and sound judgement. We have become a nation where self-regulation, self-control, self-management has gone amuck. Forgive us. We need Your help.

We are tempted to blame the media for their lack of judgement, but it seems this is a problem with our society as a whole and the media is merely reflecting who we have become. Truly, we have become a society that manipulates our surroundings and those in it to achieve our selfish desires. We have become a society that pressures and threatens to get what we want. Somehow we justify our actions. Forgive us. We need Your help.

Father, as a nation, we have chosen to desire power and influence, perhaps at all costs. Even our children engage target, tease, and threaten their fellow students. We have an industry around bullying which permeates many if not every area of our society. Forgive us; we need Your help.

Raise up values within us that honor You and honor each other. Grant us judgement to value that which uplifts, edifies, and transforms for the better. Grant us strength that we can stand up to manipulation and pressure. Rebuild our hearts to search Your Word that we can dismiss the fear of man from influencing us in unhealthy directions.

Father, may we value humility once again. May we humble ourselves before You and seek Your face and Your presence. Lead us and teach us to discern and wisely choose what we communicate. Change our hearts, that our minds and thoughts are controlled and that we can truly honor You in thought, word and deed. Therein shall we find safety.

We need Your help. Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.

In Jesus’ Name.
