You are the Generous Provider, of both love and justice.
Your gracious Word: Psalm 139
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
You are the great Provider. You provided the sacrifice for Abraham, that Isaac’s life was preserved. And You provided Messiah, that our lives may be preserved. Is there greater provision, than Your omniscience, which searches us and knows us?2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
You know my whereabouts, so there isn’t a time when I am alone. You know my thoughts, so there is truly nothing that is kept from You. Your divine presence is with me both physically, and in my spirit. But You go deeper…You understand. Even when I don’t understand myself; even when my thoughts and my emotions are driven into loops of endless conversations…that form traffic jams that seem inescapable …You are the One that actually understands what is going on. Thank You.5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
When I cannot make sense of the world around me; when reason seems to escape the actions of neighbors, commerce and government…when I cannot find anything in this world that is reason-able…at that time, You are there and Your hand is upon me. You steady me, uphold me, and secure me. Thank You.6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
Your presence in my life is beyond my comprehension. Truly Your Presence is as incomprehensible to me as the evil that desires to bury You. BUT…You are here. You are with me. YOU. It is all about You!11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Surely, no fear can have me. No temptation can overpower me. You are the Solid Rock. You are the foundation that upholds me. I will not fear. Thank You.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
Although darkness and evil seek my demise, You are there. Although evil attacks me with vengeance, it can not prevail, for YOU shine forth on my behalf. As You covered me in my mother’s womb, You possess my reigns, and nothing, no one, shall remove me from Your cover. Thank You.14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Praise be to the God of my salvation. You have fashioned me to give You praise. Fill my heart to overflow with the joy of daily communion with the God of the Universe, who stoops down and knows the substance of His meager servant. Thank You.17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
Truly, this is my purpose…to embrace Your thoughts of me. You have not hidden them! They live here in Your Word. Please pour them into my understanding. Saturate my spirit with this knowledge that is so wonderful that I cannot begin to embrace it. May it flow through me and into the neighborhood of my living.19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
Yes…You have said it. You will slay those who come against me. YOU will do this. My daily concern is to keep my eyes on You and to receive that which You have for me, and to share the blessings of my salvation. You have made it simple. With Your help, this can be my daily achievement.23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
My desire is to commit myself wholly to Your work, Your will for me, Your purpose for this life. My desire is to reflect Your care, Your love and Your unceasing desire to deal faithfully with the work that is before me. I cannot do this in my own strength. Fill me with Your joy:Nehemiah 8:10 ...for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Embrace me…use me...all of me. Come quickly, especially for the children,
