Jeremiah 17:5-8Please pray with me:
5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Heavenly Father,
Is this nation now a parched place in the wilderness? Has this land become uninhabitable? Are our eyes and hearts so distorted that we cannot see when good comes?
How can we turn to trust in You? Surely those of us of faith, have not protected our land. Wh have not prayed for those in authority. Do we even know how to repent? Father, do as You will, that we may know that You are the Lord God.
What must happen that we become like a tree planted by the waters? How do we become a nation, whose hope is the Lord?
Have our roots rotted away? How can they again spread out to receive the living water? Must we fear the heat? Do we even know how to do so?
Sculpt us, O God, to again be like this green tree that trusts in You and does not fear the drought ...because our roots grow deep in You.
Must we endure persecution to grow deep roots? If persecution comes, will it help us to once again bear good fruit? Do I dare ask You to send destruction —to grow us as tress? I appeal to You.
Help us, that we may stand strong and that we may be found faithful in the day of His coming.
In Jesus’ Name.
